Birth Photography for Dr. Julia Ray's Patients
The way your baby enters the world will become one of your family's most treasured stories.
The Santa Barbara Birth Center's Birth Photography Partner
Birth deserves a photographer who understands birth.
As the Birth Center's birth photography partner, I’m trusted to document births at both the Santa Barbara Birth Center and home births with Santa Barbara Midwifery. I work quietly alongside your midwives, understanding the rhythm of physiologic birth and documenting your experience without interrupting it.
Together, we share a commitment to honoring your birth with trust, respect, and intention, from the first contraction to the first time you hold your baby.
Only a limited number of births are accepted each month.
Investment begins at $3,000
More Than Your Birth Photographer
Birth changes us in ways that stay with us long after the day itself has passed.
For more than a decade, I've documented families as they step into one of the most transformative days of their lives. My role isn't to direct your experience, it's to quietly witness it, preserving your story with the same calm, respect, and intention that surrounds your birth.
Your birth experience always comes before the photographs. When years have passed, I want you to return not only to what your birth looked like, but to what it felt like.
As the Birth Center's Birth Photography Partner, I'm honored to serve families with the same values that brought you here: trust, informed choice, and respectful care.
Birth is not a performance.
It's one of the few days you'll never experience exactly the same way again.
While you're focused on bringing your baby into the world…
Countless beautiful moments unfold around you.
The way your partner looks at you.
The quiet reassurance of your midwife.
The first cry.
Tiny fingers wrapping around yours.
The relief.
The strength you didn't know you had.
These are the moments you deserve to experience fully, not through a phone screen or someone trying to multitask.
Your only job is to give birth.
Mine is to preserve it.
"The moment I heard, 'Aurielle is here,' I immediately felt calm. Our birth team finally felt complete."

Questions You Might Be Wondering About
-
I recommend reserving your birth photography during your second trimester, though I occasionally have availability later in pregnancy. Because I accept only a limited number of births each month, booking early gives you the best chance of securing your due date.
-
Yes. Birth Center families receive priority booking to help secure your due date window, along with a complimentary heirloom print gifted from your session, across all collections.
-
It's a completely valid concern.
The number of people present isn't what creates a peaceful birth, it's trust. Some births are filled with family and support, while others are beautifully intimate. What matters most is that everyone in the room helps you feel safe.
That's why our consultation matters. If you don't feel comfortable with me, I'm not the right photographer for your birth. But if you do, my hope is that you'll quickly forget I'm even there.
-
Birth rarely follows a script, and sometimes babies have plans of their own.
Beginning at 37 weeks, I'm on call and ready whenever labor begins. If your baby arrives before I can be there, I'll still come to preserve those first moments, the quiet introductions, the overwhelming joy, the tiny details, and the beginning of your family's newest chapter.
Because your story is so much bigger than a single moment.
-
Birth doesn't always unfold exactly as planned, and that's okay. If your care transfers to the hospital, I'll continue documenting your story whenever hospital policies and circumstances allow. My commitment is to preserving your experience, not just your birth plan.
-
Your partner has one job: to be fully present with you.
When they're supporting you through each contraction, encouraging you, catching your baby, or simply taking in the moment, those memories deserve to be preserved too. Birth photography allows everyone in the room to remain exactly where they belong, in the experience, while your story is documented with care.
-
It is a meaningful investment, and I never expect families to make that decision lightly.
Many parents choose a payment plan, while others save throughout pregnancy or even add birth photography to their baby registry so loved ones can contribute toward something they'll cherish for a lifetime.
Birth lasts a day. The photographs become part of your family's story forever.
If preserving that story feels important to you, I'd be happy to help you find an option that feels comfortable for your family.
